What Is A Brain Map?

A brain map involves scanning the brainwaves on the surface of the scalp using a nylon cap. The test itself takes about twenty minutes and is painless. The map is also known as a qeeg (quantitative electro-encephalogram). After the data is measured, a comparison is done, comparing your brainwave activity to a database of established standards of normal brain function. First done in 1924, the EEG is a well-known tool for determining brain health.
Why Are Brainwaves Important?
There are 4 main brainwaves, and each of them regulates a different part of our body. From sleep, to emotions, to critical thinking, we would not be who we are without our brainwaves.

ALPHA WAVES
This frequency range helps with information processing and brain tasking. It helps us calm down when necessary and can promote feelings of deep relaxation. Too many Alpha waves in the left hemisphere of the brain can be associated with depression.
BETA WAVES
These brainwaves are more prevalent when we think cognitively. They are involved in all forms of conscious thought, such as logical thinking, writing, or reading something. Having the right amount of beta waves is important if we are to focus and complete school or work-based tasks easily. However, too many Beta brainwaves can cause someone to suffer from anxiety, and in extreme cases, full-blown panic attacks.
DELTA WAVES
These are the slowest brainwave frequency. They are usually associated with deep levels of relaxation and restorative, healing sleep. The proper production of delta waves helps us feel rejuvenated when we wake up from a good night’s sleep. Issues with focus and concentration can be experienced if too many Delta waves are present when someone is awake and trying to thin cognitively.
THETA WAVES
Theta waves are related to short-term and working memory. Theta can improve intuition, creativity, and makes us feel more natural. It is also involved in restorative sleep. Too much theta activity can lead to depression, and cause problems with memory.
